SANTA GIUSTINA
Proceeding towards Santa Giustina, passing by San Giovanni, at the left side
of the road there's the "Madonna Del Salto "
sanctuary which is dated in the earliest of XIX century, built in neoclassic
style.
Santa Giustina is an old rural country world which looks like the old ages
as the houses are disposes all around the Giovo's road.
The period own an old painting (dated around 1500 ) by Cambiaso. The territories
around S, Giustina Keep also many secrets of the past as once they were part
of a sea. This is the reason for many fossil remains reetrievals in the period
between 1857 and 1889 when Don Perrando was in charge in the period.
As he was a paleontologyst he discovered many fossil which can be seen in
the museum in Sassello, Pegli and Genova.
Sna Bernardo lays above the hill surrounded by the white rock of the Banano's
mountains. THe country ward is named made of three territories named Contrada,
Corona and Ritani.
The name Corona derives from the shape of the country itself which means
crown.
The church is said to be of the XIV(th) century and the altar which lays
inside of the 1721.
Above the town center, in the woods, can be found several natural tunnels;
the legend says that those tunnels were (dug ) due to the flowing water
coming from the Crivesso source which is part of the MOnviso mountains.
Above the rocks of the Bonomo an old path named "Alta Via" connects
the Giovo's pass with Naso Di Gatto.
By proceeding downwards Ritani's country is found along with its old houses
which preserve remembering from he past.
SAN GIOVANNI
San giovanni has always belon he most important betwen the 5 stors especially
during he war between Genova and Savona .
At the southerrn part of the town con be found the old quinns of the aleranic
Castle along with its watchtower . The eariest news of the Castle are dated
araund XII century and the same has been propetry of Marchesi del bosco ,
the city of Savona and Grimaldi's family . In
1244 the pope Innocenzo the fourth stopped at the Castle while going to Lione
for the concil .In 1392 the castle has been sold to the Republic of Genova
that enfaced walls and tower . Another important site is the period church
, built in the 19th century by a progect of Angelo Cortese.
Whitin the church can be found the old furnishing coming from the oldest church,
some sculpures By Antonio Brilla and a Christ church made by Maragliano.
By the tow center is located house of Sandro Pertini, the well Know Anti-fascist
hero and President of the italian Republic from 1978 to 1985 whose rests are
kept in a urn inside the local cemetery
GAMERAGNA
Gameragna is
an old country word surrounded by woods and made of a group of houses very
close each other thus forming a narrow labirinth.
The Country ward is enriched thancks to the church of S.Caterina and Oratory
of San Sebastiano and San Rocco. Inside the oratory there is an old measuring
unit made of marble which is dated 1583. The presence of the Genoan Crest
is the proof of the Republic domain above these territories.
Gameragna is well known for its traditional olive oil.
SAN MARTINO
San Martino is widely extended all over a green and peaceful territory which
includes four country words : Mezzano, Teglia, Verne and the town Center.
The ancient period church was founded around 1550 and re-built in renaissance
style. Within the church can be found several ancient artrs by Brusco, De
Maestri and MAragliano.
Casa Boero is an old building which has been used as an hospital from 1600
up 1698. In 1801\2 Stefano and Gerolamo Brusco painted such a building externally
and internally; theyr arts can be seen also (now a days.).
By proceeding towards S. Giovanni passing by Mezzano, The great towar is found
is surely part of the old castle of Stella and used as a Watchtower. Downwords
to Varazza Teglia is reached along with its old S. Pietro church and its stone
belfry.
By proceeding Verne is found with its nice clima.
